Exfoliating Sugar Body Scrub
Sugar scrubs are an exfoliating body treatment that are a more gentle alternative to salt scrubs. Did You Know? When spas were first getting started, salt scrubs were the most commonly found body treatment. They were considered more effective at exfoliating the skin because they were rougher and more aggressive. The theory was - the harder they scrub, the softer your skin, but it could actually hurt!
Then more spas began offering sugar scrubs as a substitute for salt scrubs. They can remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells, without causing pain. A sugar scrub is an especially good choice if your skin is extremely sensitive or if you have had a salt scrub before and found it scratchy or uncomfortable. A sugar scrub also hydrates your skin with simple, nourishing ingredients because the sugar is combined with oil, and often an aromatic and uplifting essential oil.
Just like the skin cells on your face, the cells on your body regularly shed to reveal new, healthier skin underneath. This process slows as we get older; so to give it a push, make time for a body scrub.
Our Home & Body sugar scrub works in a few ways: as we massage it over your body, the exfoliating granules help to slough off dead skin, and the rubbing action itself boosts circulation and helps drain your lymph nodes, by increasing blood flow to the skin’s surface.
Plus, after all this deep cleansing work, the products we apply during the massage as well as the ones you use in your skin-care routine will be better absorbed and better able to soothe and hydrate your skin. If your skin is healthy and firm, you can scrub up to three times a week. But if you have sensitive or thin skin, once a week will do you wonders.

Fun Fact: For centuries the Japanese have held a tradition of making White Charcoal, handcrafted active charcoal, known for its high quality and amazing ability to purify air, water and body. And like all other types of massage, the Charcoal Scrub has excellent benefits for the lymphatic system.
Did You Know? As a part of the circulatory system, the lymphatic system carries fluid toward the heart. This fluid consists of white blood cells, which fight bacteria, as well as proteins and fats from the intestines. By stimulating our lymphatic system, we bolster our immune system, lessening our risk of infection.
Hamam Journey
As a method of hydrotherapy and raising body temperature through sauna and steam, the Hammam treatment includes techniques traditionally recognized as stimulating detoxification. In this instance, elimination of toxins occurs through activating the lymphatic system and via the largest organ of the body, the skin, by promoting sweating. The addition of body exfoliation increases blood circulation to the skin’s surface, further aiding elimination.
Our Hammam Journey treatment involves a series of stages for cleansing, rejuvenating and relaxation. The process also involves an alternation of cool and warm temperatures with water, steam, and sauna. It is an age-old Middle Eastern bathing ritual which is deeply nourishing and intensely cleansing to rejuvenate, eliminate toxins and stimulate circulation.
Beginning with a Black Soap with Eucalyptus cleanse whilst in the hammam, before a full body traditional exfoliation with glove. Then back in the hammam with Pure Rassoul lava clay, known for it’s powerful purifying properties, which is warmed and lathered onto the body, removing impurities, conditions, smoothes and restructures the skin’s tissue, leaving your skin noticeably radiant and beautifully soft. A massage is the perfect way to end the Hammam session.
Did You Know? Sauna has been found to promote longevity. When practiced regularly, it has been found to significantly reduce cardiovascular mortality.
Steam raises the body temperature above normal, and stimulates the immune system to increase production of antibodies.
Heat dilates the blood vessels which immediately improves the circulation, producing a positive tonic effect.
Hot steam has a soothing and all-round relaxing effect on body and mind.
The pores in the skin also dilate making possible deep cleansing of the skin via sweating.
Hot and cold contrast is beneficial for circulatory and lymph systems. The lymph system, unlike the circulatory system, lacks a central pump. Alternating hot and cold, lymph vessels dilate and contract to essentially "pump" and move stagnant fluid out of the area. This positively affects the inflammation process, which is the body's primary mechanism for healing damaged tissue.
Pain relief, and muscle relaxation are other widely known benefits.

Did You Know? The hammam, also known as the Turkish hamam or Turkish bath, is the Middle Eastern variant of a steam bath, which can be categorized as a wet relative of the sauna. Although the first hammams originated in Arabia, and bath culture was a central part of Roman life, Turkey popularized the tradition (and is most often associated with it) by making hammams available to people of all statuses.
